FLORENCE NÉRISSON: Let the light through

It is the second time their paths cross.
The second time that the universe of Florence Nérisson comes to infuse its vibration, its matter, its light.

Her canvas "My Nymphéas" has permeated the full summer collection of Artist.

 Renowned for this artistic and summer ready-to-wear "Nymphéa," it will be presented from February 20 to 1^st March 2026.

It is in Hyères, where she now lives, that the brand found her for an exclusive interview, for the time of a video, the time of words, of gaze, of painting.

“Art is there because life is not enough.” These words from Florence N. summarize her entire approach and the strength of her convictions. Painting is her way of inhabiting the world, sometimes extracting herself from it, often transcending it. Art as a space of absolute freedom, of breathing in the face of a sometimes suffocating daily life.

 Immediately, what strikes in her work is this immediate emotion. For her, beauty is never conceptual. It is a permanent dialogue, intimate recognition, inner displacement. Fragments of nature, flowers, plants, recognizable traces first appear. Then quickly, the canvas glides towards something else: a liberated, dreamlike, or meditative territory.

 Her painting is born from reality — but to better escape it. The artist tells an open story, with multiple entries. Her experiences, her encounters, her joys become a creative energy. The painting then acts like an alchemy: anger bursts forth in colors, sadness dresses itself in light. It is up to each person to project their images, their own wanderings onto it, to find meaning, a perspective…

 A successful work does not explain: it carries you away! It opens up another world. And one surrenders to it without trying to understand.

 The painter needs a cocoon. A confined space, inhabited, almost protective. Books, photos, magazines around her. At home, intimacy is a sine qua non condition for creation, an absolute, imperative prerequisite. Chosen music, painter's clothes — her beloved old garments — and that precise moment when she knows something shifts. In this ritual, she arrives with her initial intention but accepts that the canvas resists, deviates, proposes something else.

 Once the time for reflection has matured, she works quickly, more with her guts than with her head. A bubbling that deposits and crushes the colors.

A whirlwind launched with flashes of brushes, slowed down by hesitations, alternated by successive touches.

Nothing is left to chance. Her drippings of colors are perfectly controlled; when the drip must stop, Florence seizes the canvas and turns it with a swift gesture.

In this process between figurative and abstract, one takes her poetic path that leads to lush gardens, explosions of flowers, carnivorous plants, fantastic birds…

At the heart of this pictorial construction, her mother, her muse holds a foundational place. A drawing teacher, a woman of rigor and freedom, she taught her daughter beauty, the love of the great masters, the rigor of drawing before abstraction. TEverything remains anchored: the secondary colors, the voids, the fullness… Their bond runs through the work of Florence Nérisson.

 From this second artistic collaboration, a collection born from a canvas but above all from a supplement of soul takes on its full meaning of Art-à-Porter. Artist has pierced the intensity of this painting and has restored its sunny side. The women's wardrobe “Nymphéa” translates all its power in the sublimated red of a fluid suit. The prints reflect the lightness of its airy colors, the shapes and fabrics in turn converse with all its delicacy.

 The painting invites. The collection enchants.

 Artist and Florence Nérisson amplify this wave of optimism.
