SOURCING at ARTIST: the art and the way to achieve your artistic collections

The selection of raw materials does not come naturally!

The focus of all our attention, "sourcing" means to supply or to search at the source. To move from inspiration to the production of our artistic clothing lines, this essential step, the furthest upstream in the textile chain, requires thorough groundwork.

Raw materials are a key element in the success of creating ARTIST. In other words, we focus on carefully selected suppliers to find fabrics and accessories in an active and methodical approach.

Each model presented in the online sales session is the result of numerous explorations, trial and error, and successive tests, to validate the quality of what will make it up, and the look we have designed.

The search for suppliers

"It often happens in trade shows. It should be noted that textile suppliers exhibit by manufacturing technique: knitting and mesh, weaving and fabrics, printing, etc. They showcase their latest innovations based on their specificities twice a year, during the summer or winter season."

Wool fabrics like tweeds for jackets, stretchable supports designed for the comfort and movement of your cropped pants, fabrics that are heavier or lighter for your dresses, shirts, etc.…

Our Selection Criteria

We have clearly heard a list of requirements: the composition (cotton, viscose…), the weight (pants, top…), the compatibility with the digital printing of our exclusive designs (fineness of details, intensity of colors, …) The minimum order per reference will influence our choice. It is sometimes complex because below a given volume, manufacturers refuse to start production.
"Manufacturing and delivery times are a constant concern for us. The quality/price ratio remains essential. Our sourcing process is meticulous and aims to pursue and deepen our collaborations."

Beyond these work partnerships and constructive results, we love new encounters and new avenues. Constantly on the lookout, we expand our network of providers whenever a small revolution seems worthy of interest, or when a new treatment changes a finish, a feel. Everything that will turn into a criterion of seduction attracts us. These details that make all the originality of ARTIST. When we are convinced, we do everything to convince you in turn.

Extended Collaboration

"At their booth at the trade show or during a visit to their factory, we have built very close relationships with all of our service providers. Getting to know each other over the years allows us to get straight to the point, save time, and innovate."

We communicate almost daily with these responsive technicians who are often proactive.

"They anticipate our expectations, we often ask them to go even further. We want such a height of tone on the dyeing of the amethyst crushed velvet from the 'The Purple Color' collection. We have them redo their print submissions as long as they are not aligned with our initial idea."

"On the contrary, it is us who adapt to what exists when extreme personalization, custom-made solutions are constrained by technological or production limits. But we comply, when we really have no other choice!"

The samples

"After our visits, we receive samples of our selections of raw materials or accessories (zip, buttons, ...)."

Our validation is a crucial step. It allows us to select the best option to perfectly highlight the spirit of Art-à-Porter of our brand. We know that placing this fabric with this supplier will help us achieve our goal and ensure quality control over order management, up to the delivery of the finished garment to you.

Ecological Issues

The textile industry, the second most polluting in the world, is becoming aware of the dramatic impact of its production on the environment. In response to your significant reaction, you, our consumers, ARTIST seeks to produce in a more eco-responsible manner, chooses ecological alternatives, while taking into account social ethics and sustainable development. As in our creation, we are committed to doing our best.

In summary, sourcing at ARTIST is a matter of experts. Our most refined sketches and silhouettes would be worthless if we did not find the fabric or buttons for our future flagship product. Our experience in this field prevails at the crucial moment of selecting and purchasing all our raw materials and components. A constant ant-like work at the heart of our business.

Trade shows remain one of the most effective ways to meet a large number of suppliers in a short period, such as Première Vision in Paris and Milano Unica in Milan, where we will be going as early as July.
