In order to better understand this activity, we opened the door to 2 retouching operations in Saône-et-Loire to highlight this ancestral profession which really cannot be improvised.

The first is located in Le Creusot and is called: PATHY CONFECTIONS and RETOUCHES.

Patricia Iwanow-Zaliwkin dedicated part of his house to his workshop in Le Creusot (71) “PATHY CONFECTIONS ET TOUCHES”.

In conversation, she emphasizes her versatility and her communication describes her multiple overall services: alterations, making clothes, household linens, curtains, sofa and armchair covers, creating bags and pouches, ironing... By appointment, she welcomes at home but she also regularly visits individuals who prefer it or even businesses depending on demand.

At the beginning, with a diploma in hand, she still learned from her first employers who left her with old-fashioned know-how such as hand sewing. A few years later, with different experiences, very formative in all areas, she founded her own structure in January 2021. In the meantime, she voluntarily made masks which she sent to the four corners of rural France.

The range of its capabilities deserves to be highlighted: transformations on a cocktail dress, suit sleeves, a coat collar, a zipper replacement. Making leather and vinyl cases for industrial remote controls, an old suitcase cover, a changing set... Even the wedding dress!

The second retouching visited is called DE FIRE EN NEEDLE. It is located in Buxy not far from Chalon sur Saône.

This is what we undoubtedly found at Aurélie Martin in her boutique/workshop. Armed with solid training, encouraged by her parents, she was only 22 years old when she seized the opportunity to take up "WIRE TO NEEDLE" in 2011. The same year, the Rotary Club awarded her a prize. It retains the existing clientele and develops the activity in this charming village on the Chalonnaise coast. After a long course of studies in couture/fashion and applied arts in fashion design, and professional experience in Paris, she prefers to settle there. It looks like him, she said.

Aurélie describes her core business to us:

Alterations and transformations, making furnishing linen, maintenance and alterations on leather, sale of haberdashery and textile accessories, sewing courses. She is also a stylist and clothing designer for her collection: Aurelie M.
