On the road to Moustiers…

Sur la route de Moustiers…

As a preamble, let us take the time to revisit the creative journey, even before the “On the Road to Moustiers” collection came into being.

Last November, when they set out to photograph Isabelle Merlet’s “The Great Roads” collection, ARTIST’s co-founders and their appointed photographer, Jean-Luc Petit, had no idea what awaited them. No, absolutely nothing was planned, yet everything was there. Sometimes, all it takes is the slightest thing to turn everything upside down.

In Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, creativity ran high this time. Not only did the primary objective unfold under the best conditions, but beyond this work focused on the current collection, another one was taking shape. Taking the artistic team by surprise, a striking spectacle emerged: the beginnings of a blazing forest, shifting light, and a troubled sky, as if Provence had chosen to reveal its most secret side.

Eyes naturally turned toward these drifting leaves and deep undergrowth. The camera did not seek to compose. It simply captured these sounds and presences in the moment. A series of photographs taken spontaneously, guided by the intuition that something unique had just happened.

To immerse itself—and perhaps get lost—in this pictorial forest, Studio BF allowed itself to be guided by what nature offered in its most discreet forms: a vibration, a transparency, a reflection between the branches. At the foot of the trees, the murmur of a well-dressed autumn was already whispering.

Back in Burgundy, the images are observed, dissected, and reinterpreted. Drawing on this creative material, Brigitte and François assemble and compose their sensitive interpretation of a precious moment, where strength and fragility, roots and hope engage in dialogue.

The creators set to work using every tool they have mastered: graphic design, digital painting, textures, plays of light, overlays, color research… Each medium brings its own sensitivity, until the photograph transcends reality to become a true work of art.

Little by little, the contours soften. The colors take on a new depth. The reds grow warmer, the golds vibrate, and the blues gain intensity. You could almost hear the trees breathing. The path reaches toward the horizon, while the walk never quite reaches it. As for the sky, sometimes peaceful, sometimes dramatic, it dialogues with the earth in a continual movement.

At first glance, the eye thinks it recognizes a painting. As it draws closer, it rediscovers the precision of photography. Between the two lies a deliberately blurred boundary, where technology never replaces creation, but opens up new territories of expression for it.

It is precisely this encounter that defines ARTIST’s identity: transforming a sensation, an experience into a timeless creation. Reality becomes material. Imagination takes over. Nature inspires, but art reinvents.

“On the Road to Moustiers” is therefore neither a simple photograph nor quite a painting. It is an original digital work, born from the meeting of a moment of grace and the gaze of the two fashion designers. A creation in which each color tells the story of a tree that tells a story, and the path invites everyone to continue their own journey.

Through this work, ARTIST reminds us that beauty often emerges where we least expect it. Sometimes all it takes is a detour, a cloud, or an alignment of trees for a simple landscape to become an infinite source of inspiration. And that is undoubtedly the ARTIST spirit: seeing beyond the visible, revealing the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary. Bringing this artistic vision to life through its ready-to-wear creations.

“On the Road to Moustiers”: the clothing collection announces a sensory journey where the treetops become language, where the foliage preserves the lingering memory of past seasons, and where one walks between apparition and disappearance.

When autumn arrives, you will stroll through the forest dressed in the season’s trousers, topped with their coordinating top and completed by the printed cardigan. Your perfect ensemble for a Sunday forest escape.

Imagine an autumn escape equipped with the dream companion for November: the boiled-wool embroidered coat. Bark, burr, husk… It protects with softness and beauty.

(A simple detail, before discovering the collection)

And already, the desire to step into an enveloping, warm, deeply inspiring autumn.

Soon, this emotion will take another form. It will leave the undergrowth behind to join the fabrics, colors, and creations imagined by ARTIST.

The Moustiers journey continues… Online sales launch on Friday the 17th through July 26.

Artist La marque:
Merci beaucoup.
