Anatomy of an ARTIST collection
close collaboration between Brigitte and François, co-founders of the Art-à-Porter brand.
Open and curious about everything, they scrutinize and synthesize strong currents. Always observing, they soak up international trend books, catwalk shows, social networks, textile fairs, all artistic and cultural events…
It all starts with identifying the artistsand the works. On their unwavering common ground, their cleverly combined creative insight operates every time, infused by the work chosen for the new story to be composed.
With what they have in mind, the direction of the collection begins. They have this “je-ne-sais-quoi” to detach themselves from it and mix external influences with their own intuition to ARTIST.
From these multiple tracks, they illustrate the general atmosphere of the future session which they structure in images, in sketches embellished with the latest textile samples that they went to find.
From then on, the in-depth study intensifies to make their choices. This is the definition of the collection plan, a real road map which confirms the course to follow. It will decide the depth of the range, determine the typicality of the models offered during each pre-orders campaign.
A trained stylist, Brigitte then sketches the first models sketched out on paper which she associates with the flagship silhouettes profiled in correlation.
Simultaneously, she designs all the patternspersonalized and exclusive in the collection, those of the printeds like those of embroideries. This entire graphic part is developed with technicians at printers or embroiderers taking into account test results and industrial processes.
The rightness of solid colors to coordinate balances themix betweenhighs and lows in the timeless fantasy of ARTIST.
Several key stages then follow: pattern making (patterning), gradations (sizes), technical sheets, prototypes, fittings and adjustments, validation of fabrics, prints, shapes... Everything is carefully inspected, retouched if necessary.
Mastering the construction of the garment from A to Z involves these demanding phases to ultimately achieve the perfect fit and good fit.
The secret lies at the heart of a close collaboration between stylist, model maker, product manager, marketing manager, all orchestrated by the artistic direction.
Brigitte and François make all the decisions together, and when everything is validated, the clothing line is created. During this time, they work out step by step the colossal work of digital branding and videos.
Finally comes the unmissable event of the video presentation! As relaxed professionals, they are happy to explain the genesis of the theme, to focus on a technique, to highlight a subject. After all the time spent creating, they like to reveal, they hope to surprise. Convince, to let desires overflow.
