Reunion for a ROMANCE
ARTIST invited Isabelle HERVÉ to write a new page in their artistic and friendly history.
The next session which will begin on March 24 is entitled "ROMANCE", a word that calls for happiness and imagination in this 25th edition of the Spring of Poets!
In her figurative style, Isabelle tells us here about her love for books and writes us an original series drawn from her bookseller friends. In Paris or Brittany, wherever she is, she never tires of passing back and forth through these places that she cherishes and which feed her curiosity.
Even before being leafed through, the object captures it with an author's name, an evocative title, its format, its binding, a photo. The smell of the paper, the delicacy of the leaves, the resurgence of a past, the foreshadowing of tomorrows, everything gives him a foretaste of what will come with the brush.
The library represents a work in itself. Graphic alignment, matte cardboard, faded leather, shine of the covers, beauty of the shelves, accumulation of ordered piles, little scribbled notes...
Back at the workshop, she carefully chose a special thick watercolor paper. Heavy for structure, grainy for texture. Strong and beautiful to accept her manipulations and the paste she applied, then removed. Above and in places, the paint has left runs along the almost straight lines, the edges of the aligned works. Random result which sows a bit of unexpected disorder on the shelves. Other small papers swarm, interspersed on the canvas, thus creating an imperceptible and light relief.
ARTIST opened the door to Isabelle HERVÉ’s bookstore. In this bookish universe, Brigitte and François enjoyed strolling between its fresh editions to glean the colors of their summer 2023. An airy range, bursts of sunshine on the rays to be transposed into embroidery or print on the clothing theme “ ROMANCE”. In his poetic stationery, the cheerful notebooks, the laughing albums thumb their noses at their ancestors, respectable retro or classic collections but which they archived for a time. Make way for the new generation of rebellious copies who brandish their colorful titles, their publications which shamelessly defy the established order with pink and yellow verticals, green or purple horizontals.
“… I like colorful associations, I love multi-colored things… More than just one color, it’s their dialogue, the palettes, I like monochromes, monochromes of all colors, nuances , the astonishing contrasts... My favorite color, is not unique, it is not alone, it is a multitude, it is enriched, it is nourished, it evolves... It has the right to change, it is curious, she’s alive.” Isabelle Hervé.
Very soon ARTIST and Isabelle HERVÉ will be dedicating to you a superb summer collection, full of color. Countdown started, bookmark the correct date, we circle March 24!
